    CCAC awarded $642K grant to enhance instruction & student engagement in STEM programs
    The Community College of Allegheny County has been awarded a $642K grant by the National Science Foundation to support the delivery of instruction in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs. The funds will also be used to develop a dual-track hybrid technician program to train science and engineering technicians for family-sustaining employment in the region’s growing energy sector.
    CCAC selected to receive national diversity award
    The Community College of Allegheny County has been selected to receive the 2014 INSIGHT Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award for its continued commitment to expand and promote diversity and inclusion initiatives at the college and in the community. The HEED Award is the only national recognition given to colleges, universities and school systems that exhibit outstanding efforts and success in the area of diversity and inclusion. This is the second year in a row that CCAC has received this prestigious award.
    CCAC West Hills Center holds free Mechatronics job fair
    The Community College of Allegheny County West Hills Center in Oakdale will host a Mechatronics Job Fair in room 1106 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17. Current Mechatronics program students (including those enrolled in either the Certified Production Technician or the Process Control Technician programs), alumni, as well as individuals with mechatronics-based skills, are encouraged to attend. Representatives from more than a dozen companies are expected to participate.
    CCAC celebrates the unveiling of the Prism Health Services Paramedic Laboratory at Boyce Campus
    PITTSBURGH—The Community College of Allegheny County will celebrate the dedication of the Prism Health Services Paramedic Laboratory at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, located inside CCAC Boyce Campus in Monroeville. Former members of the Prism Health Services Board of Directors are expected to attend.
    CCAC celebrates the unveiling of the Tom Foerster Seminar Room
    The Community College of Allegheny County will celebrate the dedication of the Tom Foerster Seminar Room at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, located inside the Foerster Student Service Center on CCAC’s Allegheny Campus on the North Shore. Members of the Foerster family, along with numerous state and local dignitaries, are expected to attend.

    CCAC & Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office team up to offer free social media workshop
    PITTSBURGH—Philip Little, education and outreach specialist for the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, will present a workshop on “The Serious Impact of Social Media on our Lives” Wednesday, September 24, from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. in room 3002 at CCAC’s North Campus in McCandless, Pa.
