    Community College of Allegheny County North Campus bowlers are on a major roll. The CCAC North Women’s Bowling Team won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX Championship, which was held at Noble Manor Lanes in Pittsburgh on February 24. Leading the way was All-Events Champion Aimee Gmuer (Gibsonia) who averaged 207.7 over nine games. Gmuer also finished second in the Women’s Doubles competition along with her partner Cammy Nickel (Shaler).

    Community College of Allegheny County North Campus Golf team member Jake Gazella of Imperial made the All-Conference team of the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) and finished the season with the conference’s lowest scoring average (74.5).

    Community College of Allegheny County North Campus Cross Country team member Cody DiVecchio of Burgettstown finished first, among 20 runners, at the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) Championship held at Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood, Pa., on October 15.

    Community College of Allegheny County North Campus Intercollegiate Ice Hockey team defeated Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, October 22, by a score of 8 to 3.

    John McCabe CCAC North Golf Tournament Champion

    CCAC North Campus student John McCabe helped his team to finish first at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX Golf Tournament, held May 6–8 at Cumberland Country Club in Cumberland, Maryland.

    The Penguins Foundation and UPMC Sports Medicine are further expanding their Heads UP Pittsburgh concussion awareness program to include additional locations, introduction of the Pediatric version and a free neck-strength kit to the first 1,000 participants in the new testing period beginning June 15. Community College of Allegheny County will once again serve as host to neurocognitive baseline testing at its Boyce, North, South and West Hills Center campuses.

    Students in the Massage Therapy program at CCAC’s Boyce Campus will have a hand, or two, in helping runners relax and rejuvenate following the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon on Sunday, May 3. Kevin Anderson, CCAC associate professor and coordinator of the Massage Therapy program, along with about 20 of his current and former students and several colleagues will provide free massages at Point State Park for runners who would like a massage following the 26-mile race.

    The CCAC Lady Tigers finished the year on a very positive note this year coming in 2nd place in the WPCC Tournament. They had a nice crowd on Friday night and they got to see the Lady Tigers come back from 4 points down to defeat the University of Pittsburgh-Titusville 61 – 57. On Saturday they ended up losing to Westmoreland CCC in the championship game but showed heart, desire and so much improvement throughout the year.

    CCAC Students and Cross Country Teammates Kayla Schwartz and Alex Garbini Small

    Two Community College of Allegheny County North Campus students, Kayla Schwartz and Alex Garbini, qualified to participate in the NJCAA Division III National Cross Country Championship. The championship was hosted by Finger Lakes Community College and held on November 8 in Canandaigua, NY.

    The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) North Campus Golf Team placed second at the 2013 NJCAA Region XX Golf Championship, which they hosted May 3-5 at Pittsburgh National Golf Club.
