Admissions

As an open-admissions institution, CCAC does not require college entrance examinations. To enroll as a full-time student, applicants must have a high school diploma or Pennsylvania GED certificate or must be at least 18 years of age with experience reasonably equivalent to a GED.

    CCAC and the Homewood-Brushton YMCA have partnered to offer an entry-level college course designed to encourage young people of color, ages 16 to 24, who have an interest in music, media or a related field to consider attending college.

    CCAC is pleased to announce that local radio personality and CCAC alumnus Jim Krenn will deliver this year’s commencement address during the college’s 50th anniversary year. Community College of Allegheny County’s Commencement Exercises will take place on Thursday, May 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Petersen Events Center in Oakland.

    CCAC West Hills Center to hold “Ultimate Car Cruise” on Saturday, April 30

    The Community College of Allegheny County West Hills Center, in celebration of the college’s 50th anniversary, will hold a car cruise on Saturday, April 30, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event is open to the general public. Individuals are welcome to show all types of vehicles, including antique, classic and vintage cars.

    A group of 10 CCAC Honors students will embark on an international study tour in India from January 5-16. During the tour, they will attend lectures at universities, meet with government officials, perform community service at schools, volunteer at an organization that promotes women's economic independence, visit cultural and historical sites, and more.

    This coming January 2016, ten CCAC Honors students are traveling to India for a ten-day service and learning project associated with an honors Political Science course. On October 30, each student must make a final payment of over $1000. To help these students afford this extraordinary opportunity, you can contribute to their cause via CCAC's Educational Foundation giving page and writing "Honors India Trip" when defining how your contribution will be spent.     PITTSBURGH—For the fourth consecutive year, the Community College of Allegheny County has been awarded a $15,000 grant to foster appreciation of classic works of literature. The Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Artsin partnership with Arts Midwest, provides communities nationwide with the opportunity to read, discuss and celebrate one of 36 selections from US and world literature.
