PITTSBURGH-Community College of Allegheny County North Campus student Krysta Snodgrass has been named Young Adult Honoree for the 2018 Arthritis Foundation's Pittsburgh Walk to Cure Arthritis. Teams and individuals raise funds leading up to the event, then come together for a non-competitive 5K walk. The June 2 event also features 1-mile and 2-mile options, kids' activities, a health and wellness fair, music, raffles and, new this year, an Arthritis Warrior Tribute Wall. Funds raised benefit the Arthritis Foundation to help conquer the nation's leading cause of disability.

Snodgrass, who is pursuing an Associate of Science in General Studies and a certificate in American Sign Language at CCAC, was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) after many months of testing at the age of 10. She began dancing around the time of her diagnosis; now, 10 years later, she continues to control her JRA with exercise and medication. In 2015, while still in high school, she began volunteering with the Arthritis Foundation and continues to do so, playing an active role on the Walk to Cure Arthritis Planning Committee.

Snodgrass will lead "Krysta's Krew" at the event. Her fundraising goal is $5,000. To join the team or to make a donation, visit

The walk will be held on Saturday, June 2, on South Water Street at the SouthSide Works. Registration and the Health & Wellness Fair begin at 8:00 a.m., and the walk begins at 10:00 a.m.
